Testing for Yellow Belt

You will need to know the following information:

  • Chon Ji and the meaning.
  • Palgue 1 and the meaning of Palgue.
  • Student Oath
  • Etiquette of Tae Kwon Do
  • Rules of the Dojang
  • Meaning of Tae Kwon Do
  • 10 Basic Movements
    1. Low Block
    2. Middle Punch
    3. High Punch
    4. High Block
    5. Middle Front Snap Kick – Middle Punch
    6. High Front Snap Kick – High Punch
    7. Inside-Outside Block
    8. Ouside-Inside Block
    9. Knife Hand Guarding Block
    10. Two Finger Strike
  • Three Step Sparring
    • #1 – Knife hand block (to attackers punch) with your left hand and middle punch with your right, followed by knife hand block (to attachers punch with your left hand and high punch with your right.
    • #2 – Knife hand block with your left hand (to attackers punch) and knife hand strike to the attackers neck with your right hand, then grab with both hands and pull down into your knee.
    • #3 – Step across the attackers leg and at the same time do an outside inside block with your right hand (blocking their arm). Turn to your left (do not move your feet) elbow to the mid section.
    • #4 – Knife hand strike with your left hand, step between your attackers legs (with right foot) and with your right arm do an elbow strike to the attackers right arm pit, then back fist to attackers face.
    • #5 – TAKE DOWN – Block and grab attackers (right) wrist with your left hand. Then reach under their arm and grab them at the elbow, pulling it to your side at the same time as you step across their right leg and sweep their foot, taking them to the floor.
    • #6 – Step to your left and open hand block with your left hand. Double punch with your right hand first.
    • #7 - -Step to your left and knife hand block and grab with right hand to the attackers wrist. Grab the attackers' shoulder with your left hand, putting your thumb in their armpit. Twist their arm above your left arm (causing them to lean forward) then knee them in the chest.
  • Wrist Releases:
    • #1 - (Same side) Attacker grabs your right hand with their left hand. Keep right elbow close to your side and turn wrist so that the small of the wrist is toward the gap of the attacker's thumb and index finger. Pull wrist toward the attacker's thumb, while turning away from the attacker to escape.
    • #2 - (Cross grip) Attacker grabs your right hand with their right hand. Keep right elbow close to your side, turn wrist so that the small of the wrist is toward the gap of the attacker's thumb and index finger. Pull wrist toward the attacker's thumb, while turning away from the attacker to escape.
    • #3 - (Two hand release) Attacker grabs your wrist with both hands. With your free hand grab your wrist and pull up toward the attacker's thumbs to escape.

If you cannot remember all of the above and are under the age of 13, you can test for a junior belt. For the junior belt, you only need to remember your highest form and highest techniques.
